About Us
The Church of St Simon-the-Apostle began in 1883, worshipping first in the little church of St James the Less, in St James Cemetery. St Simon's building was ready for those first parishioners in 1887. Since then the church has been an important presence in the life of the surrounding community.
Bridging the two worlds of Rosedale and St Jamestown, St Simon's lives in what is known as the wealthiest and the poorest neighbourhood in Canada. Many of Canada's newest immigrants have found their first Canadian home amongst the 17,000 people inhabiting the 19 buildings that make up St Jamestown. In contrast, the stately homes of Rosedale house some of Canada's richest and most famous citizens, some in their later years having lived their entire lives in that community.
